Complete blood count (CBC) tests are great but they’re not really enough. Don’t you wonder if you have any deficiencies so you can hone your vitamins accordingly? Don’t you wonder how your testosterone levels are? Shouldn’t we have affordable ways of understanding our levels especially when we’re young and healthy as to baseline for when we’re older or sick? Finally there’s a company on the market focused on doing that and custom insight into your results – Function Health!
We were tipped off to Function Health and only wish we had it earlier in life. For a low flat rate of $500 (at the writing of this article), you have over 100 tests you can take and many more for an extra fee. They have sex hormone, heavy metals, food allergy/sensitives, cancer, and more. They give you custom doctor insight including vitamin recommendations based on your levels and then test you again in 6 months to see if anything has changed. As a society we push lots of vitamins but the value is taking vitamins you need rather than picking ones at random.
It’s not covered by insurance but both FSA and HSA approved. They leverage national testing facilities, Quest Diagnostic, so you shouldn’t be too far from a spot that can take your blood so they can test for results.
We did the basic package and nearly all the add-on options so we can have a good baseline if our health changes in the future. Our friends did something similar for vitamin deficiencies that was offered by a local health facility but their UI and insight wasn’t as in depth as ours with costs that were nearly the same. We really like the concept of easily tracking results from year to year and a re-testing at the 6 month mark. We aren’t sure of the accuracy but they also tell you your biological age which is how your body is doing – compared to your actual age. Rodney was tracking 10 years younger than his physical age.
You should use Function Health – or something like it!
- This is something to look into if you feel like you have health issues to get a vast array of insight all at the same time for tests insurance won’t always approve easily/quickly/in-mass
- This is something to complete at least once when you are young and fit for a comprehensive set of baseline readings
- This is something to complete annually if you have a HSA/FSA program and/or enough expendable income to afford $500 on health
In a world where people are so reactive to issues, this is a great way to be proactive and get far ahead of issues before they become bigger problems.
