DIY Homemade Frosty Paws Doggy Ice Cream
Simple, easy, and dogs love it! It’s great for pets in the summer, a healthy treat, or for those pups that just had dental work done! Although dairy isn’t good for your pooch, the lactose in yogurt is far less than milk and the live cultures are great for their digestive system!
Ingredients:
– 32 oz. plain yogurt
– 1 mashed banana
– 2 T peanut butter
– 2 T honey
1. Mix all these ingredients in your blender, then dump into ice cube trays, paper cups, or even a kong toy to freeze and serve. Let sit for at least 5 hours.
2. If you want to go all out for your mutt you can freeze these homemade frosty paws just like you would homemade ice cream. A salt-less automatic ice cream maker makes this as easy as using any other appliance in your home and the frosty paws will be ready to serve in 10 minutes.

DIY Carob Dipped Dog Biscuit
This is a delicious dog biscuit recipe!
Ingredients:
– 1 Egg
– 1/4 Cup applesauce
– 1/2 Cup beef or chicken broth
– 1 Tablespoon honey
– 1 Tablespoon molasses
– 1/4 Cup oil
– 2 1/4 Cups whole wheat flour
– 2 Cups carob chips
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 300* F
- In a large bowl combine egg, applesauce, broth, honey, molasses, and oil. Gradually stir in flour.
- Dough should be stiff -add flour or water to adjust if it is not
- On a floured surface, roll out dough into 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to make shapes from the dough
- Place on lightly greased cookie sheets and bake for 30 minutes, or until the cookies are golden brown.
- Melt carob chips in microwave or double boiler.
- Dip half of the heart into the melted carob.
- Place cookies on waxed paper and let stand until carob is set.

Chicken Jerky Strips
These all-natural chicken jerky strips make the perfect snack for your dog, but they’re not just for canines—you can eat them yourself! To make processing easier, pop the meat into the freezer 15 minutes before slicing it, and slice it thin!
Ingredients:
– 1½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast tenders, sliced into strips about ¼ to 1/8 inch thick
– ½ cup vegetable oil
– 1 Tablespoon salt
– Dog-friendly seasonings, such as parsley, rosemary, and sage
Directions:
Use a dehydrator OR you can use an oven (directions below):
- Preheat oven to 250ºF.
- Grease a wire rack with olive oil (or coconut oil) and place on top of a cookie sheet. This will allow the air to circulate as the chicken is dehydrating. Set aside.
- Trim chicken of all visible fat.
- Slice the chicken 1/8th inch to 1/4 inch thick.
- Place the chicken slices on a rack and cook for 2 hours *(check them after an hour and then every thirty minutes or so. Everyone’s oven can vary a little, so after you make them once you can adjust the time as necessary).
- Flip them over after 2 hours and continue to dehydrate in the oven for another 45 minutes, or until fully crisp.
Carrot Peanut Butter Doggie Cupcake
Ingredients:
– 1 large egg
– 1/4 cup peanut butter
– 1/4 cup vegetable oil
– 1/3 cup honey
– 1 cup shredded carrots
– 1 cup whole wheat flour
– 1 teaspoon baking soda
Directions:
- Mix the wet and dry ingredients separately, then combine them
- Fill each lined cupcake tin about 2/3 full
- Put them in the oven at 350º F for about 15-20 minutes
- Let them cool, take the cupcake liner off, and serve to your pooch
Bacon Bark Sticks
Makes 24
Ingredients:
– 1 egg
– 1 ¼ cups fat free milk
– 1 tablespoon honey
– 4 tablespoons bacon fat
– ¼ cup bacon, crumbled
– 3 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. In a large bowl whisk together the egg, milk, honey, bacon fat, and bacon.
3. Stir the flour in, ½ cup at a time until full incorporated.
4. Knead the dough until fully combined.
5. Roll the dough out onto a lightly floured surface into a 4” by 12” rectangle.
6. Using a pizza cutter, cut out 4” by ½” sticks until all the dough has been used.
7. Line the sticks on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
8. Cool completely before serving.
9. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
